PlumResearch, a startup delivering granular audience measurement data for the global entertainment industry, has been acquired by Ampere Analysis — one of the leading players in media and entertainment analytics worldwide. The acquisition marks an exit for the funds that have supported the company to date: its first investor, Tar Heel Capital Pathfinder, and Montis Capital.

PlumResearch was founded in 2015 and quickly established itself as a leading expert in audience measurement data for the global entertainment industry. Today, it delivers detailed streaming audience data across more than 75 markets. The company’s clients include some of the biggest Hollywood film studios, broadcasters, and talent agencies, among them Sony Pictures Entertainment and Warner Bros. Discovery.

“We have built our own technology, a patented data collection methodology, the world’s largest research panel, and a team of outstanding specialists. Our unique data and insights, combined with Ampere Analysis‘s expertise, will allow us to offer both existing and new clients the ability to make even better-informed decisions about shaping the future of entertainment and media,” said Łukasz Jeziorski, Co-founder and CEO of PlumResearch.

The acquisition by Ampere Analysis is a testament to the world-class technology and capabilities built by the Polish team.

“PlumResearch’s approach to streaming measurement is both innovative and highly practical. The company delivers real value to media clients. Under Łukasz’s leadership, PlumResearch has not only built impressive technology and audience intelligence capabilities, but has also earned the trust of leading names across the global entertainment industry,” said Richard Broughton, Executive Director at Ampere Analysis.

The company was founded within Red Sky, a Szczecin-based startup studio. Tar Heel Capital Pathfinder was PlumResearch’s first investor and supported the company at every stage of its development, actively assisting the management team in areas including strategy and product development, securing subsequent funding rounds, and global expansion, through to the exit.

“As PlumResearch’s first investor, we have had a front-row seat to this remarkable journey. The acquisition by Ampere Analysis is a powerful reflection of the value the team has built. We are proud and delighted to have actively supported them from the very beginning. We wish the company and its new owner every success in this exciting new chapter,” said Michał Wrzołek, Senior Investment Director at Tar Heel Capital Pathfinder.

In 2020, Montis Capital also invested in the company.

“The acquisition of PlumResearch by Ampere Analysis is great news for the entire Polish ecosystem. When we invested in the company in 2020, we saw a team with a rare combination of technological precision and a deep understanding of the needs of the global media market. What Łukasz and his team have built — from a Szczecin-based startup to a tool used by the biggest Hollywood studios — shows that Polish companies can build world-class products in niches where deep specialisation matters. We congratulate the entire team and wish them continued success under the Ampere Analysis banner,” said Michał Gawęda, Partner at Montis VC.

The exit from PlumResearch marks yet another acquisition of a Polish technology startup from Tar Heel Capital Pathfinder’s portfolio by a global player — previous portfolio companies have been acquired by the likes of Intel (RemoteMyApp) and BigTime (Primetric).
